While standard belt and flapwheel operations can produce a coarse brushed finish, the NFW 600 S utilizes dense non-woven abrasive flaps in a radial arrangement to produce an ultra-fine satin finish. As the flaps wear down, fresh grit is exposed to the workpiece, resulting in a more consistent finish over the lifespan of the drum. The outcome is a matte-shiny or matte surface that displays ultra-fine scratches, so-called satin finish lines; utilizing synthetic aluminum oxide abrasive, this satin finishing drum stands out with a combination of surface refinement and exceptional surface refinement over and above the NCW 600 S combination drums. Because it grinds and finish more gently, non-woven abrasives alone remove material less rapidly than a combination drum.

These drums are mounted to burnisher tools or to standard grinders with the help of a special burnishing adapter.
